726 examinees expelled for cheating

Over 726 examinees were expelled for cheating and five teachers for abetting their students in the acts in Bangla first paper test on the third day of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), Alim and Fazil examinations yesterday. Two examinees were turned over to police for adopting unfair means at Nangarchara High School under Rangpur district. Officials said 64 examinees were expelled for adopting unfair means under Dhaka education board. According to HSC examination control room 142 examinees were expelled under Rajshahi board, 26 under Jessore board, 41 under Chittagong board, 22 under Comilla board, 28 under Barisal and nine under Sylhet board. In Dhaka city, three examinees were expelled. Two were expelled in Narayanganj, two in Narsingdi, five in Gazipur, nine in Mymensingh, one in Kishoreganj, 12 in Netrakona, 18 in Jamalpur, two in Sherpur, three in Faridpur, three in Madaripur and four in Gopalganj. Under Rajshahi education board, a teacher was expelled from Kurigram centre for abetting students in copying. Of the expelled examinees, 19 were in Gaibandha, 19 in Rangpur, seven in Rajshahi, one in Nawabganj, 12 in Naogaon, six each in Panba, Sirajganj and Bogra, two in Joypurhat, 18 in Kurigram, 12 in Thakurgaon, 23 in Dinajpur, three in Nilphamari and four in Panchagarh. Under Sylhet board, two were expelled in Sylhet, two in Habiganj, one in Moulavi Bazar and four in Sunamganj. One teacher was allegedly assaulted by expelled examinees at Alif Sobhan Chowdhury College at Habiganj when he was returning home after the end of the day's examination duty. Mojibur Rahman, a lecturer of Moulvi Bazar Government College and a member of the Sylhet education board vigilance team, was soon rescued and a complaint was lodged with the local administration. Under the Jessore board, four were expelled in Jessore, five in Meherpur, one in Jhenidah, five in Khulna, three in Bagerhat, one in Satkhira, five in Kushtia and two in Chuadanga. Our Barisal correspondent adds: under Barisal board, six were expelled in Barisal, three in Jhalokathi, two each in Pirojpur and Patuakhali, 13 in Bhola and one in Borguna. Officials of Madrasa education board said 233 examinees and four invigilators were expelled from 138 centres. The technical education board said 61 examinees were expelled from 200 centres.
