The government seized ETV's satellite communication equipment including SNG following a Supreme Court verdict that declared illegal its licence for terrestrial transmission on August 29 last year.

The rule came upon a writ filed by Abdus Salam, Chairman of the reconstituted ETV Limited.

The petitioner submitted that the government failed to keep its commitment made earlier to return the equipment in four weeks that has elapsed.

As proceedings of the court continued, Barrister Abul Hasib intervened. He claimed Nasir A Chowdhury was chairman of the reconstituted ETV and suggested the equipment be returned to his client who is the real owner of ETV.

The bench comprising Justice A B M Khairul Huq and Justice Syed Shahidur Rahman turned down his plea and suggested taking the dispute over ownership to the designated court that deals with company matters.
