IT firm boasts of $21,900 export

A local software firm earned $21,900 in one year by developing a web-based application for Food for the Hungry International (FHI), a US based non-government organisation."It's one of our best works," said S Kabir Ahmed, managing director of IBCS-PRIMAX Software (Bangladesh) Ltd, the developer of the application. Addressing a press conference at the IBCS office yesterday he said now the FHI operates in nine countries around the world and hopes to extend its activities to other countries in near future. "So, it's a continuous process and we hope to earn similar amount every year," Ahmed said. The web-based application titled Child Development Programme-World Link contains information on children of the developing countries to help sponsors of the developed nations find countries where they can channel funds. The company also developed several software on hospital management system, micro-credit information system, computer integrated insurance system, personal management information system, financial account manager, inventory management system, payroll system, provident fund system, fixed deposit receipt system, share management system and fixed asset system. Ahmed described last ten years' activities and successes of IBCS-PRIMAX Institute of Technology (IPIT), a sister concern of the company, in developing skilled IT professionals. The IPIT started its operation in 1992 in collaboration with National Computing Centre (NCC) UK and London Metropolitan University. A total of 2,450 students, with a success rate of nearly 85 per cent, have received certifications from the institute so far. According to Ahmed the institute students are engaged in various reputed institutions in the country as elsewhere in the world.
