Abducted Ctg magnate not rescued yet

The hunt continues for notorious criminal Gittu Nasir, the prime suspect in the abduction of business magnate Jamal Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury.

Police yesterday attached some movable properties of Abu Nasir alias Gittu Nasir from his residence at Chalitatoli under Bayezid thana.

The attached properties are a refrigerator, dining table, wardrobe, sofa-set and utensils.

Seven days into Chowdhury's abduction, police could make no headway in the rescue operation.

Besides Gittu Nasir, police are also hunting for BDR Salim, Habib Khan, Kanchon Nagor upazila parishad (UP) Chairman Abul Kashem and Aeochia UP Chairman Ahmedul Haq, said police sources.

However, despite intense rescue efforts at the remote areas of Fatikchhari, no further arrests could be made.

Meanwhile, four previously nabbed relatives and associates of the suspected abductors were shown arrested.

Gittu Nasir's elder brother Abul Hossain and BDR Salim's elder brother Habib Ullah were placed on a five-day remand on Wednesday.

Two alleged accomplices of Gittu Nasir, Osman and Azim Ullah, were produced before the court yesterday with a remand prayer.
