Tebhaga leader hospitalised

Kumudini Hajong, a front-ranking woman leader of historical Tebhaga Movement, is now undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.

The woman aged about 100 years has long been suffering from various illnesses due to starvation. Poverty is her constant companion. She has been living in a worn-out cottage in hilly area of Durgapur, Netrakona.

The Bangladesh Nari Adhikar Bastabayan Sangstha brought her to Dhaka for proper treatment.

During the Tebhaga movement, Kumudini Hajong suffered imprisonment, repression and torture. Her vast landed property was grabbed by the people who served the interests of the then British rulers.

The organisation has appealed to the political parties, social and welfare organisations and the generous people to extend a helping hand to the tribal woman leader.

Interested persons have been requested to contact the Sangstha on 8851177 and 8852020.
