Dear Mr. Editor,
Tariq Abd'allah, Oakley St, Arlington Heights, IL, USA
I am really amazed to see you in silence when it comes to the opposition Awami League whereas you waste no time in criticising the government of the BNP. However, I am glad that the Bangladeshi media in general, and The Daily Star in particular, keep a constant vigil on the actions of public personalities and groups. But I expect similar treatment for opposition parties' actions as well. I am truly disappointed that you have failed thus far to write anything against the destructive hartals called by the main opposition parties. Why don't we see any editorials/commentaries about it. The coverage you provide should reflect the fact that the Awami League leader had promised never to call hartals while in power but never kept her words. (DS: Keep reading to discover the fairness we adopt in covering party politics.)
