Most community clinics in Barguna locked
BSS, Barguna,
Most of the 78 community clinics set up in five Upazilas of the district during Awami League rule for providing medicare to rural people are now under lock and key. Local people said the government last year pressed into service 27 of the clinics, but these are not functioning properly due to shortage of medicines, doctors and instruments. At some of the clinics, one health assistant or a family welfare assistant is sometimes seen advising 'clinents'. Each of the clinics constructed on a 5-decimal plot of land at a cost of Tk 2.5 lakh consists of two rooms and a toilet. But the poor people are getting no service from these clinics.
