November 02, 2003       Culture Sumita Devi fighting for life Legendary actress, Sumita Devi, who has acted in the first Bangladeshi film " Akash ar mati", directed by Fateh Lohani, is now critically ill at the Bangladesh Medical Hospital. Born in Manikganj, in 1939, she has acted in about 200 films. Sumita Devi (whose actual name is Hena Bhattacharya), is suffering from brain hemorrhage. Her son, Anal Raihan, son of late Zahir Raihan, commenting on his mother's illness said that his mother had been ailing for quite some time; both her kidneys are damaged while her liver is not functioning properly. It is reported that she went into a coma right after her treatment began. Sumita Devi
