Advocate Shaikh Sohrab Hossain of AL-backed Sammilito Ainjibi Samannoy Parishad and Advocate Shaikh Masud Hasan Rony of pro-BNP Sarbadaliyo Ainjibi Oikya Parishad were elected president and general secretary of Khulna District Bar Association.

The AL-backed panel also won the posts of one of two vice-presidents, joint secretary, two departmental secretaries and four members while the pro-BNP panel won the other post of vice-president and three posts of committee members.

Of the total 697 registered voters, 651 cast their ballots and five ballots were rejected, says a press release issued by the chairman of the three-member election committee.

In the election to Bagerhat District Bar Association, Advocate Shamsul Huq of BNP was elected president for the eighth time while Advocate Sheikh Wahiduzzaman Dipu of the same party won the post of general secretary for the third time. Of 284 votes, 270 were cast.
