Int'l Day for Disabled today

The International Day for the Disabled will be observed today in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world with a renewed commitment to ensuring equal rights and privileges of the disabled in society. The government as well as various organisations will observe the day through holding of seminars, discussions and rallies. Newspapers will publish special articles while Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television will put up special programmes to mark the occasion. President Iajuddin Ahmad, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and Awami League President and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion.
