Tk 14,000 crore revenue earned in seven months

The government earned Tk 13,993.72 crore revenue during the first seven months of the current fiscal year till January 2004.The earnings are Tk 1,439.49 crore more than that of the corresponding period of the last fiscal recording a 11.47 percent increase. This was revealed at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Finance held yesterday. Finance and Planning Minister M Saifur Rahman, AM Reasat Ali Biswas, Shahjahan Chowdhury, Gazi Mohammad Shahjahan, Mohammad Habibul Islam Habib, Abdul Khaleque and Mohammad Mashiur Rahman Ranga attended the meeting, chaired by Mushfiqur Rahman. The meeting was told that the revenue earnings target for the current fiscal was Tk 27,750 crore. The total revenue earnings in the last fiscal was Tk 12,554.23 crore. Finance Secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan was, among others, present.
