Janajuddha top brass held


The second-in-command of the Janajuddha faction of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP), Sumon, was arrested in the capital by the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday evening.

Rab sources said a team of the elite force raided a house in Mohammadpur area and arrested the notorious criminal.

On September 5, Sumon's elder brother Ripon Ahmed alias Shoeb, 28, chief of the Janajuddha faction, was arrested and killed in an encounter with Rab at Jubusa under Rupsha upazila of Khulna. He was a charge-sheeted accused in journalist Humayun Kabir Balu murder case.

After the killing of Soheb, Sumon was next to Abdur Rashid alias Tapan alias Dada Tapan of the Janajuddha faction of PBCP.
