Bomb a boomerang

A robber was critically injured as one of the bombs he was carrying exploded while trying to rob a house at the city's Kafrul area on Sunday.The robber was identified as Atiqur Rahman Bappi alias Shamim, 22. Police sources said a group of six robbers tried to enter a house at north Bhanshak of Kafrul area at around 9:00pm. Suspecting them as robbers, locals gathered and chased the goons. At one stage Atiqur brought out a bomb that he was carrying with him to throw at the mob, which accidentally blasted, leaving him critically injured. The associates of Atiqur managed to flee away. Later police admitted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital . In a separate incident police yesterday arrested three of the eight robbers at Shyampur who looted valuables worth Tk 9 lakh from a house at south Jurain on July 28.
