Architectural Design Contest
Nishorgo announces names of winners
Nishorgo, a Protected Forest Area Management Programme of Forest Department, arranged a National Architectural Design Competition for Visitor's Interpretation Centre at Lawachara National Park in Moulvibazar recently, says a press release.

VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd. won the first prize in the competition while Kashef Mahboob Chowdhury and Marina Tabassum secured second and third positions respectively.

The Board of Jurors comprising Architects Khadem Ali, Jalal Ahmad, Saif Ul Haque and Iftekhar A Khan and Engineer Gene V George selected the winners.

The best designs were selected on the basis of its compatibility, Nishorgo message, buildability, building materials or technology, conservation/green approach and functionality.

Nishorgo Support Project with financial support from USAID arranged the competition to ensure that most creative and environment-friendly design is constructed in Lawachara National Park.

The competition was organised in association with Institute of Architects of Bangladesh (IAB). AMK Steels, Bay Developments Ltd & Mirpur Ceramic Works Ltd sponsored the competition.

The Visitor's Centre will provide visitors with pertinent information about Protected Areas through interpretive exhibits, visitor information kiosks, programmes, printed materials, and interactive media displays. It will educate the people about the importance and methods of conservation and non-destructive ways to enjoy nature.

The winners will be awarded on August 9 and all the designs will be exhibited at the National Museum in the city. The Exhibition will continue till August 15.
