The incident occurred during the 42nd over of the Bangladesh innings. Rubel Hossain was facing up to Sri Lanka's star performer Lasith Malinga, who was looking for his fifth wicket of the match.
On first observation it seemed like the yorker hit Rubel straight in his front legs and the umpire seemed to agree with the huge appeal and raised his finger. Rubel smiled at the decision and started his walk off the pitch with Mushfiqur stranded on 95 at the other end, seemingly running out of partners as he looked to bat out the 50 overs. Bangladesh were seven down and with Tamim Iqbal unlikely to bat, that effectively left only Mustafizur Rahman still to bat. Mushfiqur called back Rubel and gave him an earful, gesturing angrily as to why he was walking away. Bangladesh took a review and the decision was reverted after review showed that there was a big inside edge from Rubel's bat.
Rubel did fall a few deliveries later after Sri Lanka won a leg-before review. Mushfiqur continued however and played one of the best innings of his career and indeed by any Bangladesh batsman in recent times as Bangladesh put on 261 runs on the board. Tigers then bowled Sri Lanka out for 124 runs to win by 137 runs.

Mushfiqur was extremely frustrated at Rubel for not discussing the matter with him and walking off at a pivotal time in the game when Bangladesh were looking to use the remaining overs to their advantage.
He was then accompanied by a heroic Tamim Iqbal in the last-wicket stand of 32 runs. While Tamim braved injury, Mushfiqur overcame his own rib pain to play a fantastic 144-run knock.
