Bangladesh pulled off an impressive 137-run win over Asian rival Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup opener on September 15, capped by impressive performances from Mushfiqur Rahim, Mithun Ali, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and others.
We look at some of the statistical highlights of the brilliant match.
Mushfiqur Rahim
Mushfiqur's 144-run knock is the second-highest individual score by a Bangladesh batsman in ODI cricket, overtaking Shakib Al Hasan's 134 not out in 2007 World Cup. Only Tamim Iqbal's 154 against Zimbabwe in 2009 now remains on top.
Mushfiqur's innings also became the second-highest individual knock scored by a batsman in Asia Cup. Mushfiqur shares the second spot with Pakistan's Younis Khan, who also hit 144 against Hong Kong in 2004. Virat Kohli's 183 against Pakistan in 2012 is the highest score by a batsman in Asia Cup history.
The diminutive right-hander also became part of another impressive record, becoming just the fifth batsman batting at no. four or more to score an ODI ton after coming in with one or fewer runs on the board. Carl Hooper, Mahela Jayawardene, Herschelle Gibbs and Ramnaresh Sarwan are the other batsmen who achieved the feat.
Mushfiqur's innings of 144 contributed 55.17 percent of the runs to the team's overall total of 261 which is the highest ever by a Bangladesh batsman. Previously, Tamim Iqbal had scored 54.82% of their runs - 125 out of 228 - against England in Dhaka in 2010.
Tamim and Mushy
The 32-run last-wicket stand between Mushfiqur and Tamim was the highest tenth-wicket partnership in ODIs where an opening batsman was involved. Tamim faced only one delivery which he coped with while batting one handed. Mushfiqur on the other hand scored all 32 of those runs while facing just 15 delieveries.
Sri Lanka
This was Sri Lanka's biggest defeat in the Asia Cup. It was also the biggest defeat by a major team (India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) in the Asia Cup.
Their haul of 124 was also Sri Lanka's lowest total against Bangladesh.
Mohammad Mithun
The 27-year old, who debuted in 2014 against India played in only his fourth ODI and struck his first ever ODI fifty.
