Fifth-grader 'raped' by headmaster

The headmaster of a school in Manirampur upazila of Jessore allegedly raped a student of class-V on Monday night.

The alleged rapist Lutfor Rahman, headmaster of Mahmudkati-Raghunathpur Primary School, is a resident of Khreedanchi village of the upazila.

The victim's father said there was a religious programme in Galda Sardarpara in the upazila Sunday night which his daughter attended. Lutfor was also there.

Around 9:00pm Lutfor told the girl, who is not his student, that she should return home. He accompanied her on her way back.

When they reached Gulda, he overpowered her and raped her, the father said.

The victim's mother filed a case with Manirampur Police Station Monday night.

The girl's mother said, “My daughter returned home and told us what had happened."

Inspector (investigation) SM Enamul Haque said the victim's medical tests were completed yesterday morning.

Lutfor has been absconding since the incident.
