A total of 12 aspirants including seven leaders of BNP today filed writ petitions with the High Court against the Election Commission's orders that had rejected their nomination papers to contest in the upcoming national election.

They submitted the petitions seeking HC directives on the EC to accept their nominations rejected on different ground.

The HC may hear the petitions later in the day.

The seven petitioners of BNP are:AZ Jahid Hossain from Mymensingh-4, Ruhul Quddus TalukderDulu from Natore-4, Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan from Khagrachhari, Khandaker Iqbal Ahmed from Brahmanbaria-2, Mushfiqur Rahman from Brahmanbaria-4, Samir Quader Chowdhury from Chattogram-6 and Sarker Badal.

RuhulA min Hawlader(Jatiya Party) from Patuakhali-1 and Quazi Ashraf Siddique (Jatiya Party) from Tangail-8;Imran H Sarker (independent) from Rajibpur-Raumari constituency, Afzal Hossain (independent) from Naogaon-4, Ashraful Alam alias Hero Alam (independent) from Bogura-4.

The EC recently upheld the decision of the returning officers who rejected the 12 aspirants’ nomination papers during scrutiny on December 2. Their nomination papers were rejected by the ROs on different ground.
