With the 11th parliamentary elections just 22 days ahead, BNP today allocated 15 seats to Jamaat-e-Islami, the key component of the 20-party alliance, and five seats to Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

Jamaat has been given Dhaka-15, Sirajganj-4, Khulna-5, 6, Cumilla-11, Chattogram-7, Cox’s Bazar-2, Thakurgaon-2, Dinajpur-1,6, Nilphamari-3, Gaibandha-1, Satkhira-2,4, and Pirojpur-1
LDP
LDP was given Chattogram-14, Chattogram-7, Cumilla-7, Laxmipur-1 and Mymensingh-10.
The nominated LDP candidates are: Col (Retd) Oli Ahmed (Chattogram-14), Nurul Alam (Chattogram-7), Redwan Ahmed (Cumilla-7), Shahadat Hossain Selim (Laxmipur-1) and Adv Morshed Alam (Mymensingh-10).
Earlier, BNP nominated 25 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, a key component of the 20-party alliance, to contest the upcoming parliamentary polls.
In another development, the party allocated 17 seats among its Jatiya Oikyafront alliance partners--Gonoforum, Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab).
WHEN IS THE ELECTION?
The 11th general election will be held on December 30. It was deferred once by the Election Commission upon demands from the opposition political parties.
As per the polls schedule, the deadline for filing the nomination papers was November 28. Since then, the commission has been engaged in hearing appeals of rejected candidates.
After December 9, the last date for nomination withdrawal, the commission will allot polls symbols to contestant and open the field for campaigning.
