Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed today said the Commission is uninformed of the attack on Dr Kamal Hossain's motorcade.
"We are uninformed of the incident since no one lodged a written complaint in this regard," he told reporters at Agargaon in response to a question.
He said “there might be some unpleasant incidents” centring the elections but “the number of such incidents will not be more than one or two percent”.
Replying to another query, the EC secretary said ballot papers will reach the field-level officers seven days before the election.
WHAT HAPPEND TODAY?
Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade was allegedly attacked at the Martyred Intellectuals Mausoleum in Mirpur area of Dhaka this morning.
The motorcade came under the attack when Dr Kamal was coming out of the Mausoleum after paying tributes to the martyred intellectuals around 9:45am, Latiful Bari Hamim, a staff of the Oikyafront’s media wing, confirmed told The Daily Star.
Driver of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob, who was with Dr Kamal, was injured while the attackers, chanting slogan “Joy Bangla,” vandalised several vehicles of the motorcade, said Hamim.
However, both Dr Kamal and Rob were unhurt, he further said.
