Bikolpodhara Bangladesh-led Juktafront Chief AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury today said a fair election is possible if the Election Commission discharges its constitutional duties independently.
"As per the Constitution, the Election Commission is independent and it is the commission’s responsibility to hold the election in a free, fair and inclusive manner," said Badruddoza Chowdhury also president of the Bikolpodhara Bangladesh.
He again said that the constitution has vested all authorities to the constitutional body and it would act under the president instead of the government.
Speaking at a discussion in Dhaka, B Chowdhury, said the government now has no authority to transfer or suspend of its officials.
“The EC has such power and holding a good election is still possible if it works independently,” the former president said.
Juktafront arranged the programme at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) marking the 'Victory Day'.
B Chowdhury, said democracy must be ensured at all levels and development without democracy cannot be accepted.
The Juktafront chief also said corruption and terrorism must be uprooted from the country to build a truly happy, peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh.
