5 Workers Party candidates to use ‘boat’ symbol

Five candidates of Workers Party of Bangladesh, a component of the ruling Awami League-led 14-party grand alliance, will contest the December 30 election with Awami League’s electoral symbol “boat”.

Among the five candidates, Rashed Khan Menon will contest from Dhaka-8 constituency, Fazle Hossain Badsha from Rajshahi-2, Mostafa Lutfulla from Satkhira-1, Yasin Ali from Thakurgaon-3 and Tipu Sultan from Barishal-3 constituencies with Awami League’s electoral symbol “boat.”

Besides, three candidates—Haji Bashirul Alam will take part in the election from Cox’s Bazar-1, Ahsan Ullah from Cumilla-8 and Jahirul Haque Tutul from Barishal-2 constituency with the party’s own electoral symbol “hammer”.

Earlier, around 32 aspirants of the left-leaning political party submitted their nominations to the contest the election, but 24 candidatures withdrew their nominations in line with the decision of the party’s Parliamentary Board yesterday.
