Jatiya Oikyafront leader and Gono Forum candidate for Dhaka-6 Subrata Chowdhury reportedly came under attack while he was campaigning in Hatkhola area of Dhaka this evening.
Some 15 to 20 people suddenly attacked them and snatched away all the leaflets when he went to the area for conducting election campaign, he claimed.
Subrata claimed that the supporters of Awami League-led grand alliance candidate Kazi Firoz Rashid launched the attack. He also alleged that police were present in the area but did not take any step.
Contacted, Firoz Rashid told The Daily Star, “Subrata is my friend. Why should my men attack him. Aggrieved BNP leaders may attack him as the BNP candidates did not get the party ticket from the constituency. It is their internal matter.”
Notably, BNP Candidate for Dhaka-8 Mirza Abbas also reportedly came under attack today while he was electioneering in Dhaka's Shegunbagicha area.
