‘Saw no opposition agents at centres’

Allege Election Commissioners Mahbub Talukder, Rafiqul Islam

Election Commissioners Mahbub Talukder and Rafiqul Islam alleged that they saw no polling agents from major opposition alliances while casting their votes at two separate centres.

There were no polling agents from the opposition parties at Ispahani Girls High School centre in Moghbazar area, Mahbub Talukder told The Daily Star after casting his vote at the centre around 9:00am.

He also claimed that he was receiving complaints from throughout the country.

Meanwhile, Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam also said he did not see any poling agents of BNP at two centres including Lake Circus School polling centre where he cast his vote.

However, he expressed his satisfaction with the overall atmosphere and the turnout rate so far.

Earlier in the morning, commissioner Rafiqul visited Gono Bhaban High School centre where he said BNP agents were absent.

While asked why there are no BNP agents at the centre, an official concerned told Rafiqul that no agent from the party reported to him in the morning.
