Police today said Jatiya Oikyafront Convener Dr Kamal has expressed satisfaction over the security measures taken for him by law enforcers.
Deputy Commissioner of Motijheel Zone Anwar Hossain came up with the remark while briefing journalists after a meeting with Dr Kamal, also president of Gono Forum, at his Motijheel chamber this noon.
Some top police officials went to Jatiya Oikyafront Convener Dr Kamal Hossain’s chamber in Dhaka’s Motijheel area to discuss “security issues”.
The police officials met Dr Kamal to discuss security measures taken for him and he expressed satisfaction over it, DC Anwar said.
Led by Officer-in-Charge of Motijheel Police Station Omar Faroque, the police officials reached the chamber around 12:10pm, the alliance’s media coordinator Latiful Bari Hamim told The Daily Star.
DC Anwar briefed reporters after emerging from Dr Kamal's chamber around 1:45pm.
Earlier, several police teams took position in front of Dr Kamal Hossain’s office around 12:05 pm.
“We’re here as part of our normal duty. We discussed openly and wanted to know if he (Kamal) has any observation regarding his security and he said he’ll inform us over phone if he notices anything.”
“Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia also talked to Dr Kamal over phone although he was supposed to meet him,” Anwar Hossain added.
Earlier yesterday, leaders of Jatiya Oikyafront walked out of a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda in protest of the latter’s “discourteous behaviour”.
