Rotary annual programmes announced
Engineer MA Wahab, governor of Rotary District 3281, has declared annual programme of Rotary, said a press release.
At the commencement of the 2022-23 Rotary Year, he said Rotary International Bangladesh has spent over Rs 100 crore on implementation of public welfare projects across the country in FY 2021-22.
He was speaking at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Thursday, chaired by Rotary Additional Governor Abul Khair Chowdhury.
District governor-elect Md Ashrafuzzaman Nannu, former governor KM Zainul Abedin, Dr Mir Anisuzzaman, M Khairul Alam, Executive District Secretary Atiqur Rahman, District Secretary (external affairs) Shereen Bon, and President of Cosmopolitan Rotary Khandaker Omar Farooq, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The governor said July 1 was the auspicious start of the 2022-23 Rotary Year. More than 12 lakh Rotarians from more than 33,000 clubs around the world celebrated the New Rotary Year.
On July 1, colorful processions were brought out in different cities across the country. In Dhaka, the programme was held at Hatirjheel.
The district installation was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center where Jennifer Jones, president of the Rotary International, was present as chief guest.
Chief Adviser of Rotary District 3271, Liberation War Affairs Minister Akam Mozammel Haque, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, State Minister for Disaster and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman were also present on the occasion. The four ministers are members of Rotary International.
