JAAGO Foundation student awarded full scholarship at UWC
Tamanna, a 17-year-old student from JAAGO Foundation School, has secured a fully-funded scholarship at United World College (UWC) in Dilijan, Armenia. The scholarship was facilitated through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program.
Having been a student at JAAGO Foundation Banani School since 2011, Tamanna recently passed her SSC examinations with a GPA-5. She hails from a marginalised community and has participated in several extracurricular activities. At 16, she took part in an international VEX robotics competition in the USA with a team from JAAGO. She also represented the Youth and Sports Ministry of Kuwait at a Model United Nations (MUN) event in Turkey.
"I still cannot believe I am going to study abroad," said Tamanna. "Since childhood, I have dreamt of travelling the world and learning new things and worked towards achieving that dream. To watch it become a reality is truly a moment of joy and pride for me and my family. I am grateful to the JAAGO Foundation and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey."
JAAGO Foundation, established in 2007, provides education to underprivileged children in Bangladesh. To date, it has set up 11 schools across the country, educating over 30,000 children.
Korvi Rakshand, the founder of JAAGO Foundation, commented, "Education is the key that unlocks the door to a brighter future. Whenever our students achieve something great, it's not just their dreams that soar; it's the hopes and aspirations of an entire community taking flight. Together, we're rewriting the story of what's possible."
With this scholarship, Tamanna will pursue her studies at UWC. She has expressed a commitment to contributing to her community in the future.
