Just The Beginning…

The figure who was the towering force behind the birth of Bangladesh is once again dominating the country's capital. On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhui Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17, the day that kicked off Mujib Borsho, his iconic image has been ever-present in Dhaka.  The celebrations started on Tuesday with a dazzling fireworks and lights show in front of the Jatiya Sangsad attended by hundreds, who also enjoyed a concert and an audio-visual display on a big screen. That was only the beginning as reminders of Bangabandhu are found throughout the city, from structures placed at busy intersections, to walls painted with his smiling image beside the words 'Mujib 100'. Indeed, Mujib Borsho is only just beginning.
