3 killed in Sirajganj road crash

Three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van on Dhaka-Bogra highway in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj this morning.

The deceased were identified as Rashidul Islam, 24, Abdur Rahman, 32, and Alamin Hossain, 22, hailing from Sariakandi upazila of Bogra.

Abdul Kader Zilani, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, said the Bogra-bound truck collided with the covered van at Dadpur around 7:15am, leaving the trio dead on the spot and three others injured.

On information, police and fire fighters recovered the bodies after one and a half hours of frantic efforts as both the vehicle fell into a ditch soon after the collision.

Injured Minhaj, 22, Md Sohel, 20 and Sagor Ali were admitted to Raiganj Upazila Health Complex, said the OC.

Vehicular movement on Dhaka-Bogra highway remained suspended for around two hours following the accident.
