Road crashes kill 10 in Habiganj, Mymensingh
At least 10 people including four of a family were killed and three injured in two separate road accidents in Habiganj and Mymensingh today.
HABIGANJ
Five people including four of a family died on the spot as a truck rammed a private car in Nabiganj upazila around 5:00am.
The deceased are Abdul Kadir, 35, an army person, his father Abdul Hamid, 70, mother whose name could not be known immediately, daughter Sharmin Akter, 14, and car driver Shah Alam, 32.
Kadir was deployed in Mali UN peacekeeping mission and returned home last month, our Moulvibazar correspondent said quoting Nurunnabi Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station.
Quoting witnesses, the OC said a Dhaka-bound stone-laden truck from Sylhet hit an oncoming private car at Debpara on Dhaka-Sylhet highway, leaving the five dead on the spot.
Kadir was returning to his Gowainghat residence in Sylhet after visiting a relative in Narsingdi, the police official said.
MYMENSINGH
Five passengers of a three-wheeler were killed and three injured as a covered van crashed into the vehicle in Muktagachha upazila at 10:00am.
The road mishap took place at Langra Bazar on the Mymensingh-Tangail road.
Three people died on the spot while two others on their way to hospital, said Kamal Hossain, OC of Muktagachha Police Station.
