2 die of dengue fever in Madaripur, Barguna
Two people including a child have died of dengue fever in Madaripur and Barguna.
In Madaripur, a housewife died of dengue fever at Uttar Krishnanagar village in Kalkini upazila early today.
The deceased was identified as Nadia Aktar, 40. She was declared dead at Madaripur General Hospital around 12:30am, our Faridpur correspondent reports quoting her husband Alamgir Moral.
She was first admitted to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex as she had been suffering from fever for few days, said her husband Alamgir Moral.
Later, she was diagnosed as dengue patient after examining her blood on July 30, he said.
Nadia was referred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on August 2 as her condition deteriorated.
“As we did not get seat at the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, we came back here to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex. Later, she was shifted to Madaripur General Hospital where doctors declared her dead,” said Alamgir.
Shafiqul Islam, Civil Surgeon of Madaripur General Hospital, said Nadia died before she had reached the hospital.
In Barguna, a one and a half years old boy died of dengue fever during treatment at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barishal yesterday evening.
The deceased was identified as Tawhid, son of Ishaq Ali of Lakurtala village under Barguna Sadar upazila, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.
Tawhid was first admitted to Barguna General Hospital on July 30 with dengue fever.
As his physical condition deteriorated, the boy was referred to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died yesterday evening, Dr Humayun Sahin Khan, civil surgeon of Barguna, said today.
