Dumped, teens commit suicide together

Love ended in death for two teenage madrassa girls as they committed suicide together, side by side, after allegedly being dumped by their lovers in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat early today.

Nazrin Akhter, 14, daughter of Mintu Miah and a seventh grader of Ahadullah Prodhan Senior Madrassa, and Rumman Akhter, 15, child of Shafiqul Islam and eighth grader of the same institution were found today morning hanging on a tree beside their house.

They were hanging by the same branch of a mango tree beside their Chatrarpar Fakirtari residence when found around 8:00am, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Patgram Police Station.

Quoting family, he said the girls went out yesterday morning for the Independence Day celebrations with their lovers. They returned at night but did not share anything with family.

Police assumed the girls had a fight with their lovers. “Legal actions will be taken after the postmortem report if any case is filed from the families,” the OC said.
