Firing, blasts at RU hall

Two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student front of ruling Awami League, allegedly fired shots and blasted crude bombs at Rajshahi University in the wee hours today to establish their supremacy on the campus.

A bullet was fired soon after the midnight, which was followed by three crude bomb blasts at the third block of Mother Box Hall on the campus, our RU correspondent reports quoting Proctor Prof Tarikul Islam.

Two groups -- one led by Rabiul Islam Bani and the other by Shakibul Islam Baki – engaged in the showdown to show off their power for establishing supremacy on the campus, sources at the organisation said.

None was reported injured during the incident, the correspondent said.

Both police and university administration however are yet to confirm about the BCL link with the incident.
