Meherpur ‘drug trader’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with rivals
A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with rivals in MeherpurSadarupazila early today.
The deceased was identified as Hamidul Islam, 30, son of Aroj Ali of Govipur village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Shah Dara Khan said on information that two groups of drug traders were trading gunshots, a team of police went to Govipur in the early hours.
They found bullet-hit body of Hamidul on the spot, he said, adding that the “gunfight” might have taken place over the share of drug money.
Police also recovered a shooter gun, two bullets and 12 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from the spot, the OC claimed.
He also said Hamidul was wanted in a dozen of cases filed with the local police station.
