Elephant found dead

Police recovered the carcass of a female elephant in Netrakona's Kalmakanda upazila yesterday morning.

Quoting locals, Abdul Ahad Khan, OC of Kalmakanda Police Station, said the elephant was found dead in a muddy part of a field in Bedghora area.

He said the animal, whose carcass bore no injury marks, might have died from overeating. 

Police later handed over the body to forest department officials.

Saidul Islam, officer of Durgapur Range Forest Department, said samples were collected from the animal carcass for a forensic test and the cause of its death would be known after getting report.
