Leopard cat, 3 fishing cats rescued in Chattogram, 2 held

Police detained two people and recovered an endangered leopard cat and three fishing cats from Lohagara upazila of Chattogram last night (October 29, 2022).

Police also recovered one kalij pheasant from the possession of the detainees, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports.

The two arrestees are Imran and Alim Uddin.

Officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station Atiqur Rahman told The Daily Star that the two detainees collected the wild animals from people of Murang community at Ali Kadam of Bandarban. They were trying to take these at Riazuddin Bazar in the upazila in order to sell, he added.

They detainees will be produced before a mobile court in this connection, said the OC.
