Rare Nilgai rescued in Chapainawabganj

A Nilgai Antelope was caught by locals in Barik Bazar area of Shibganj upazila yesterday.

The animal, also known as blue bull, was declared extinct in Bangladesh by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Upazila Livestock Officer Ranjit Kumar Singh said the Nilgai caught by locals was male and he was sick.

A veterinarian team treated him, Ranjit added.

Wildlife Inspector Jahangir Kabir of Rajshahi said the animal would be rescued by his department.
