Support of Fans to help Russia in game against Croatia: Croatian Goalkeeper

The support of Russian fans may help the Russian national team in its 2018 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal clash against Croatia, Croatian goalkeeper Danijel Subasic told reporters on Tuesday.

"Team Russia is a difficult opponent, it is a good team with good players. They will play at home, and, naturally, fans’ support will be an additional factor of pressure on us. The Russian team is most likely to choose defensive tactics, so this is going to be a tough game. However, I hope that we manage to win," Subasic, Croatia's hero of the win against Denmark, told reporters through a translator was quoted as saying by U.S based sports television channel ESPN.

"In all, Russia has demonstrated solid performance at the World Cup. They have very dangerous counter-attacks and are strong in playing as a team, that’s why I don’t want to single any of their players out," he added.

"It's certain they'll go beyond their abilities, playing at home, in front of their fans. I think we have the answers to all that's waiting for us. The challenge is that much greater when everything is against you. you have to cope with all this pressure" he concluded.

Subasic became the hero of the game against Denmark after saving three penalties in the penalty shoot-out. But the situation was different as they trained penalty kicks, suggested by Subasic.  He dedicated the victory to his late friend, Croatian footballer Hrvoje Custic, who tragically passed away ten years ago.

Croatia, which advanced to the knockout stage from the top spot in Group D and defeated Denmark in the Round of 16 (1:1, penalty shoot-out 3:2), will face Russia at 12:00 am in Bangleshi time on Saturday, at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi.
