What a World Cup Eden Hazard has had for Belgium. While Belgium will not emerge from this tournament as World Cup winners, Hazard has cemented his reputation as one of the world's best players.
He was superb throughout in his side's run to the semifinal, and did not deserve to be on the losing side against France.
Although he would have been disappointed to not reach the final, he still produced a Man-of-the-Match display against England on Saturday afternoon in the third place playoff.
His displays have been integral to Belgium this summer, with many suggesting that he is in the running for the Golden Ball - the award given to the best player of the tournament.
Hazard was asked the question after his side's 2-0 victory vs England, and he revealed his belief that he deserves to be given the Golden Ball for his performances.
Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez claimed earlier this week that Eden Hazard has the attributes to play at any club in world football.
"He can play for any demanding team in the world. He is one of the most complete footballers in the modern game now," Martinez said.
"Everyone speaks about footballers and about what they can do on the pitch, and rightly so it is very easy to assess what Eden Hazard does on the pitch.
"He's one of the best footballers in one-v-ones, brings an understanding of how to break defensive systems down, he's got an incredible coordination right and left.
"He biggest aspect I can tell you that not many people know is his incredible personality and leadership.
"He leads in the box and in scoring goals. He never drops his standards, he's a team player with a winning mentality.
“Now, with the maturity that he has, you can build a winning project around him."
