Japan leave dressing room spotless while heartbroken fans clean stadium

The best fans in the tournament cleaned up the stadium despite going out of the World Cup to a shocking 94th minute winner while their team left the dressing room spotlessly clean following the match.

The Japan team made the fans proud with fantastic display of football despite Belgium coming back from 2-0 down to seal a memorable victory. The loss was devastating and the faces of the players had told the story of how they felt after playing such a brilliant game.

The Japanese visitors in Russia had been praised earlier in the tournament for cleaning up after their surprise 2-1 victory over Colombia (the Senegalese fans did the same after beating Poland) – but few could have expected them to repeat this after Nacer Chadli’s 94th minute winner completed an unlikely Belgian comeback and knocked the Asian side out of the tournament.

Japan had gotten through to the last 16 of the World Cup due to the fair play rule as they accumulated less cards than Senegal. The players and staff yesterday showed incredible sportsmanship by leaving their dressing room spotless with a "thank you" note in Russian following their defeat.

A picture shared by a FIFA employee showed their spotless post-match dressing room.

“This is the Japanese dressing room after losing to Belgium in the 94' minute,” she was quoted by Evening Standard as saying.

“Thanked their fans in the stadium, cleaned up everything (bench and dressing room) and spoke to media. Even left note with 'thank you' in Russian.

“What an example for all teams!! Privilege to work with!”
