The Nigerian forward Ahmed Musa has been dubbed as ‘Lionel Musa’ by the Argentinean fans after his heroics led his team to a 2-0 victory against Iceland and also kept the World Cup hopes alive for the Albiceleste. According to reports from Goal.com, Musa said that he is ready to outshine Messi in their next game to see his team Nigeria through to the next round of the competition.
The Leicester City forward found his new nickname to be amusing but he also warned the real Messi and reminded him that he has a habit of scoring against Messi’s team. Musa faced Messi’s Argentina in 2014 World Cup and Barcelona in the International Champions Cup clash in 2016 and scored twice on both occasions.
“Thank you very much for that!" Musa said when told about the comparison, as per reports from Goal.com. “Whenever I play against Argentina, when Messi is playing, I can remember four years ago when Messi was playing in Brazil, I scored two goals. When I transferred to Leicester, I played against Barcelona, and I scored another two goals.
“Next game, anything can happen. Possibly, I'm going to score another two goals.
“Scoring against Argentina is not that difficult for me,” he added. “Any game, I take it step by step. If I'm going to score against Argentina, I'm going to do that.” added a confident Musa.
Musa also said that Nigeria need to work very hard in the game against Argentina as it will be a do or die situation for them.
“We have to work very hard, we know it's do or die, we have to go for a draw or win. By the 95th minute, we'll know who carried the day.” concluded Musa.
