Sourav Ganguly believes that the Tigers are well prepared for the World Cup. The former Indian captain backed Bangladesh to do well even after their loss to India on May 28 in their last warm-up match.
Bangladesh lost by 95 runs to their Asian neighbours in a match where the men in green and red clearly seemed to try new combinations. Nine bowlers were used by the Tigers with Tamim Iqbal rested and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza playing only one half of the match.
"It was a practice match, they tried different combinations to prepare themselves for the big matches and also to show their merit. For this they lost their way a bit. But they will turn the things around in the world cup matches and will deliver good performances." said Ganguly after the warm-up match.
Although the Tigers lost, there were some positives to take away from the match. Bangladesh pacers Rubel Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin took four wickets among them to cripple India for 102 for four inside 21 overs, while spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman also found themselves into the wicket-takers' list. However, the spinners remained expensive.
"Highlight of their innings was with the new ball. Pacers took the full advantage. At first they picked up four crucial wickets but they couldn't emulate that performance later on," said Ganguly.
"Bangladesh leaked too many runs to be honest. Dhoni, Rahul and Hardhik Pandiya played well against their spinners. The main difference is that our spinners got [wickets] theirs didn't," he concluded.
