Can’t win em all: McCullum after Bangladesh's win

Former Kiwi player Brendon McCullum had predicted that the Tigers will win just one game in this World Cup – the one against Sri Lanka – and lose all the other group matches in the ten-team tournament. He responded in a tweet about his earlier predictions.

Most experts had predicted that consistency will be key and after the Tigers' strong start in the tournament where they defeated South Africa in their opening fixture of the tournament, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza's side have already proven McCullum's prediction of the outcome of the South Africa vs Bangladesh match as wrong. The former Kiwi star admitted that he expected South Africa to win and said that although Tigers picked up their one win, by the end of the group stage, his prediction might look 'alright'. He also added a 'can't win them all' with a wink at the end of his tweet, perhaps to suggest that getting predictions right is a tough job.

"Impressive performance from @BCBtigers to defeat @OfficialCSA. I expected SA to win but Bangladesh played well. In regards to my predictions, thanks for the feedback on getting this one wrong. Won't be the last but average at the end will look alright I think. Can't win em all," the Kiwi tweeted.

One of Brendon's predictions was wrong from the outset as he had predicted that both West Indies and Sri Lanka would win against each other in the group stage.

Earlier on May 31, he had tweeted that his reason for overlooking the likes of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and  Afghanistan as serious contenders was due to the conditions in England.

"This WC analysis is IMO how the tournament will unfold. I would like nothing more for the growth of the game to have Afgh,Bang & SL to be serious contenders in this WC. If the tournament was in Asia, they may well have been. But it's early summer in the Uk, hence my predictions," read an earlier tweet on May 31 following his prediction tweet.
