Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has warned his teammates that he will not be the only one facing the ire of the people of Pakistan when they go back home following bad performances in the ongoing World Cup.
Pakistan based thenews.com.pk reported on the alleged speech the Pakistan skipper gave his under-performing teammates in the dressing room, with the knowledge that another loss could likely mean the team will be eliminated.
“If anyone thinks that I will go home, then it is then it is their idiocy.”
“If God forbid something unfortunate happens, then I won’t be the only one going back home,” he allegedly said.
Sarfaraz has come in for some criticism after the defeat to India. Former Pakistan bowler Shoaib Akhter even called Sarfaraz ‘brainless’ multiple times in an impassioned rant about the poor decisions taken by the captain and what he said were the large number of mistakes in the match.
Pakistan are in ninth place with three points from five matches. They will face South Africa on Sunday at Lord’s.
