A record four matches in the group stage were abandoned due to rain and by the looks of the weather conditions in the semi-finals between India and New Zealand, the game might suffer the same fate.
New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat at Manchester against India. The Indian bowlers did quite well to keep the Kiwi batsmen at bay until the 46th over when rain stopped play. Unlike the group stage matches, ICC does have reserve days for the three knock-out matches - July 10 for the first semi-final, July 12 for the second semi final and July 15 for the final.

Firstly, if the game does not resume today, the match will be played on the reserve day just from the place where it ended today. That means, New Zealand will have to bat the remaining 23 balls of the innings before India come on to chase.
Secondly, if the match is also washed out on the reserve day, the team which finished higher on the points table in the group stages will qualify for the finals. Keeping this scenario in consideration, India will be heading to the finals having accumulated 15 points compared to New Zealand’s 11.
As for the finals, if the match is not played on the reserve day, the trophy will be shared by both the finalists.
