Proteas spinner Imran Tahir bowled the very first over of the 2018 World Cup after South Africa opted to bowl in the opening match of the tournament at The Oval.
Faf du Plessis brought on Tahir in the very first over and the unique decision paid dividends very early as he picked up the wicket of England opener Jonny Bairstow in just the second delivery of the World Cup.
Bairstow lunged onto the front foot to one that gripped and turned just far enough to kiss the outside edge of the bat on the way through to wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock, and Tahir's went off in celebration. In what is being thought of as the World Cup of batsmen with some help for the seamers early on, Faf’s tactics brought success pretty early on.
OFF HE GOES!
What a start for South Africa!#CWC19 #ProteaFire
