TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2020

What we love most about the world today is our united efforts to become eco-conscious. In this effort, one thing that has been abundantly clear is the process is not easy. In fashion, it takes that extra determination to find out which brands go the additional mile to achieve sustainability.

TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2020 helps to narrow it down for us. The coveted fashion week highlights brands that stand out through green fashion. Finally, we meet with designers and brands that contribute to making haute couture be guilt free.

AF by Afsana Ferdousi

A promising young fashion designer based in Bangladesh who has been featured in prominent fashion shows and exhibitions all around the world.

What we love about her collection —

Afsana is heartily committed towards the wellbeing of the society and hopes to reignite the heritage of her homeland through AF – her fashion brand. This year at TRESemmé BFW, she will be promoting animal rights and the protection of global biodiversity through her designs and stories imprinted on her exclusive collection. This will certainly be an interesting line.

Manas by Faiza Ahmed

A contemporary fashion line, favourite amongst the Dhakaiites dealing with timeless classics, traditional wear, handloom, slow fashion, and all things green.

What we love about her collection—

Manas has always showcased traditional wear with a touch of the classics, be it with few lines from Michael Madhusudan Dutt or the portrait of George Harrison, used as motifs on the fabric. Ahmed is the first in the country to pay such tribute to the legends, making their contributions to the world of literature, arts, music and crafts, acknowledged this way. This year at TRESemmé BFW, she works with the memory of another legend of Bangladesh, namely Moron Chad Paal and his traditional terracotta doll (tepa putul). With an exclusive line-up in charcoal black, midnight blue and brick red, she will be using screen print and appliqués to depict the traditional dolls in an artistic form. We are super excited by this and hope to see her latest collection in all its glory.

Marg by Soumitra Mondol

A hot seller label in India, highlighting heritage, minimalism and simplicity.

What we love about his collection —

Soumitra Mondol has the sole intention of spreading awareness about weavers and special weaves from his homeland. Mondol does not follow the customary fashion stature or reproduce fad designs that can be seen elsewhere; he goes by his heart and creates fashion that reflects the styles of the average people and focuses only on heritage weaves and the inbred culture of his motherland, India. His latest collection at the TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week would certainly be a lesson in heritage fashion.

Mumu Maria by Maria Sultana Mumu

The boutique sets itself apart from the rest with its brilliant fusions to produce unique couture wear that is both dazzling and intense at the same time.

What we love about her collection —

This year at TRESemmé BFW,she has introduced ‘deshi’ motifs inspired by the traditions of Shokher Hari. The art-form has quite a few nuances such as using a lot of basic colours like turmeric yellow, chilli red and indigo on the subjects. The motifs majorly used on these special earthenware are fish, native flowers like waterlilies, flamingoes, owls etc., and Mumu has been able to blend all the charms of the Shokher Hari, incorporating it in her latest collection — which we will be able to witness at the TRESemmé BFW 2020.

CDK by Chandrika Tamang

Fashion brand CDK is making waves in the Bhutanese market with its exceptional line of eco-friendly clothes that are primarily inspired by nature.

What we love about her collection —

Chandrika works mostly with hand-woven raw silk and cotton. Being committed to the cause of curbing carbon footprint, CDK only uses natural dyes and organic fabrics and hence, is the perfect example of handloom designer wear exhibited at one of the most coveted slow-fashion endorsing shows of the year.

Inspire by Ajay Gurung

A bespoke suit store in Nepal offereing hand-made suits, highlights the personality of the wearer.

What we love about his collection —

A maverick designer who takes inspiration from everything around him, conjuring up collections that are anything but regular. His fashion is exciting and fun, and capable of making everyone wearing the clothes look like a ramp model. So, this year at the TRESemmé BFW 2020, it will be definitely a worthy watch to see how he binds slow fashion, heritage and the classic with haute couture.
