Miraculous birth: Uncle assumes responsibility for newborn, siblings

The baby born miraculously at the site of accident and her two minor siblings from Mymensingh's Trishal upazila will be taken care of by a relative.
The three were left orphaned on Saturday after an onion-laden truck ran over their parents and their three-year-old sister in the Court Bhaban area.
Their father Jahangir Alam and sister Sanjida died on the spot, while the impact of the collision pushed the baby out of their eight-month pregnant mother Ratna Begum's womb. She died soon after giving birth.
Locals rescued the newborn and rushed her to Trishal Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor referred her to Community Based Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila.
The newborn, who has not been named yet, is undergoing treatment at Labib Hospital in Mymensingh city for the fracture in her right shoulder, said Md Shahjahan, the hospital's managing director.
Ratna and Jahangir left behind an eight-year-old daughter Jannat and a six-year-old son Ebadat. At the time of his death, the 42-year-old Jahangir had no property or fixed deposits.
Now, Jahangir's cousin Sharif Uddin has come forward to support the children for as long as he can.
"It is my responsibility to support the children when there is none in the family to bear their expenses," Sharif said, adding that Jahangir was a sub-contractor at his sites.
This is not the first fatality from road accident in Jahangir's family, who hail from Raymoni village under Mothbari union in Trishal upazila.
"There are six graves in their family graveyard and five are accident victims," Sharif said.
Jahangir's younger brother Shamsul Alam was also killed in a road crash in 2005 in the same area, while his uncle Fazlul Haque was also killed in a similar fashion in 1995.
