52 more supernumerary posts created for top police officials

The government has created 52 more supernumerary posts for the promotions of top police officials.
Of the posts created, two will be for additional inspector generals of police and 50 will be for deputy inspector generals of police.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification to this effect on Thursday, Mohammad Ashraf Uddin, a deputy secretary of ministry, confirmed it to The Daily Star today.
As per the order, approval must be obtained from the Finance Division, and the tenure for these "supernumerary posts" (officials who hold the same position and perform the same duties after their elevation) will be one year from the day of the creation.
Earlier, the government, on September 7, created 290 supernumerary posts for the promotions of top police officials
Of the posts created, 140 will be for additional deputy inspector generals and 150 for superintendents of police.
The sources said the ministry's decision came in response to a request from the Police Headquarters to promote around 529 top police officials by creating these "supernumerary posts".
