The government is going to impose a 22-day ban on catching, selling, hoarding and transporting of hilsa from October 7 across the country to protect safe spawning of the fish during its peak breeding period. 

This information was disclosed in a notification issued by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock today (September 15, 2022).

According to the notification, collection, transportation, purchase, sale and storage of hilsa will be banned from October 7 to 28.
